There are .msg files in the POPcon folder with undistributed emails left after we solved a huge Exchange problem. How can we redistribute them?

One word about .msg files in the c:\program files\POPcon folder: A .msg file contains an email that was downloaded by POPcon and stored in that file until it gets distributed to your Exchange Server. These files are in simple text format. You can view them with notepad or you can rename them to *.eml and then double-click them open into MS Outlook.

If there are .msg files left in your POPcon folder that you want POPcon to distribute to your Exchange server you can do it like this, provided you are using a version of v2.8x or later (if not, please update [free] first):

  1. Stop the POPcon service (control panel - services)
  2. Move the *.msg files from the c:\program files\POPcon folder to some other backup folder
  3. Restart the POPcon service
  4. Let POPcon run for a minute to have it realize these files are missing.
  5. Stop the POPcon service again.
  6. Copy back in the backed up *.msg files into the POPcon folder
  7. Restart the POPcon service again
  8. During the next mail cycle POPcon will distribute the emails from the *.msg files.
